About the event
The Shades of Belonging Festival is a community celebration of and for Jews of Color, their families & allies. Celebrate the rich diversity of Jewish Los Angeles on May 5, 2024 at the Skirball Cultural Center!
The Shades of Belonging Festival will honor and affirm the experiences of Jews of Color (JOC), specifically Jewish Adoptees. This event is for all people who are seeking community and connection that affirms the experiences and talents of Jews of Color. Â Hear from organizations working to build a more inclusive Jewish community in LA, see expressions from JOC artists, learn about the JOC adoptee experience and have fun at the Skirball.
There will be fun for the whole family including:
- A screening of the animated short film, Blewish
- Live music & Theater by JOC & JOC adoptee performers
- A brief presentation of the Shades of Belonging study of Jewish Adoptees of Color
- Exhibits showcasing JOC, & JOC adoptee artists
- Snacks/tapas, dessert, music & more!
